Dear Smile E.

I’d like to request a cheer box for my husband; but, for personal reasons, I’m concerned what is in it. Can you tell me what comes in the box?

Signed,

Unreligiously Yours PCD

Dear Unreligiously Yours PCD,

Our cheer packages at PCD Smiles are geared towards keeping a person with PCD busy while they are stuck recuperating at home or in a hospital setting, especially if they are confined to their room in isolation. Cheer boxes are always nondenominational, due to vast numbers of recipients in the United States and Canada. They contain crafts and hobby items that are preferably non-smelly since the recipients we serve are respiratory patients. We also don’t include food items that potentially could be against their hospitalization diet orders. From personal experience there is nothing worse than getting a food item as a gift, just to have your medical team or your family to take it away from you. Been there myself as a kid and it stinks. I personally hate hospital cups, so I insist that each box get a drink cup or drink container of sorts. The actual vessel varies and I try to keep it fun. Besides the usual crayons or colored pencils and sketch book or coloring book I like to include a special item and anything that may be needed to make it work; whatever that maybe. We also send puzzles and or puzzle books, a desk of play cards of some sort where I can, and anything else that I can squeeze into the box (lol). Also please take a second and check out our Donations page for more information on boxes. Thank you for your interest and please do not forget to submit your cheer package request on our website; as to not miss any requests, we no longer take requests by any other means.

Yours Truly,

Smile E. Turtle
