Jump back into airway clearance and get those secretions mobilized. There are many forms of jumping, and many activities that involve jumping as well. My favorite as a kid was jump rope, particularly the double Dutch jump. I could do it for hours. My hospital had jumping pads in there kids play area, until too many got hurt and they took them out. In fact the trampoline is a great way to get coughing and move mucus by jumping. Though make sure to utilize all safety precautions including the safety net. The indoor trampoline for exercise is another fan favorite among PCD and CF patients. They typically come with less risk for injury from falling than their bigger counterparts, and you can use them year around.
Is your PCD loved one struggling with doing their twice daily airway clearance? Help them put the fun back into their treatments by thinking outside the box and experimenting with traditional airway clearance techniques and non traditional techniques. Remember the best airway clearance technique a PCD patient can do is the one that they actually will do.
