Today’s featured artist is Odessa Grove with her submission titled “Breathe with Me”.
PCD is a rare hereditary disorder affecting approximately 1 in 20,000 (live births) and results from abnormalities in the structure and/or function of motile cilia and their motility. The disease phenotype is characterized by chronic upper and lower airway infections, which can cause substantial damage to the lungs. Consolidation, atelectasis, and bronchiectasis are constant findings in adults, but may also be present already in infancy, making early PCD diagnosis substantial. ~ Niki T. Loges, Heymut Omran, in Dyneins: Structure, Biology and Disease (Second Edition), 2018
The PCD Artist Project is a collaborative effort by artist to raise awareness for PCD or primary ciliary dyskinesia and support the PCD Smiles program. Each artist who submitted art work to the project either has PCD or has a PCD friend or family member.
