Adults need fun treatment time as well as kids. Yoga is a great way to combine breathing techniques like active cycle breathing and positioning like postural drainage as an airway clearance session. The active cycle breathing can help open your lungs and mobilize secretions making them easier to cough up. The positioning in yoga adds in the benefit of postural drainage for additional help in mobilizing secretions to aid in better cough clearance. However care should be taken if you have uncontrolled blood pressure, uncontrolled arrhythmia, an aneurysm, and or are taking blood thinners as postural drainage and certain postural positioning are unsafe for patients with any of these conditions. As always you should always get the approval and clearance of your medical team before modifying or beginning any exercise program.
