Cycling is a great way to get in an airway clearance session without making it seem like an airway clearance session. This is an especially awesome outside of the box idea for kids and teenagers. I have to tell you it’s been one of my favorite activities of all time for getting in not only exercise, but rhythmic breathing that mobilizes secretions. However remember to stay well hydrated while cycling to prevent secretions from drying up and becoming problematic. There is just something about zooming along and forgetting your breathing for a while because you are distracted by the thrill of the scenery or the destination. Remember even the adults need to put the fun back into airway clearance. Try cycling today, and put the fun back into your life. Remember airway hygiene is an important part of primary ciliary dyskinesia care.
