Daily Task 1. Complete 2 separate airway clearance (ACT) sessions daily. (Only one session can be 45 minutes of exercise, the other session must be any other ACT, as long as you complete the entire ACT session.)
The first daily task in the Turtle On 100 Day challenge is to do your airway clearance sessions using just one of the two as exercise. Airway clearance techniques are important in PCD care because our cilia are broken but our body still continues to make the 1.5 quarts of new mucus daily. People with healthy cilia, their cilia remove that mucus daily after that mucus has trapped germs, bacteria, and debris. In PCD awe have to manually remove that same mucus to prevent airway destruction and prevent infections from taking root. Even if you don’t have PCD you can practice airway clearance techniques so that you are better able to understand and help the PCD person in your life effectively understand and perform their own airway clearance techniques. So let’s get out there and complete this task daily. Do you have what it takes?
